BSA Surf Coach Level 2
The BSA Surf Coach Level 2 course from the British Surfing Association (BSA) is the official qualification required for working as a surf instructor or surf coach in this country and abroad. The BSA qualification allows you to seek employment at hundreds of surf schools in Britain and in countries all over the world. The course covers all aspects of surf education including surf safety, surfing techniques and group management. Successful trainees go on to work as surf instructors or surf coaches on a supervisory level.

What are the entry requirements?
- A current Level 1 Award (that has been held for a minimum of 6 months)
- A current Beach Life Saving qualification (acceptable to the BSA)
The BSA Level 2 Coach will have a good personal surfing ability.
The Level 2 Coach need only have a very basic knowledge of surfing competitions, as these do not form part of the award
Who is this course aimed at?
Surf instructors or surf coaches who want to teach surfing at all levels from beginner to intermediate and take on a supervisory role within a surf school.
What will I be doing on the course?
Learn how to teach surfing at a more progressive level, taking novices and intermediates out back and teaching basic manouvres. You will also learn how to mentor and supervise junior instructors, and write lesson plans and development programs for improving surfers.
How do I study the course?
The course is delivered at the BSA accredited training centre at Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay, Cornwall. The course runs over three days and can be combined with the standard or intensive beach lifeguard course.
What can I do after the course?
The BSA Level 2 Coach is competent to coach surfers of all levels from Beginners through to Intermediate surfers. You can also take on a management role within a surf school.
How much does this course cost?
£280 per person.
A discount of £30 applies if combined with the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification. Combined cost = £500
